In June – Romney Told Employers To Tell Employees How To Vote; Now They’re Doing Just That
In June of this year – Romney made some comments that seemed to fly below the radar. As he was speaking to a group of business owners, he urged them to “make it clear to your employees” the significance of their vote and “therefore their job and their future”. We’ve shared that HERE:
He said:
“I hope you make it very clear to your employees what you believe is in the best interest of your enterprise and therefore their joband their future in the upcoming elections. And whether you agree with me or you agree with President Obama, or whatever your political view, I hope you pass those along to your employees.”
“Nothing illegal about you talking to your employees about what you believe is best for the business, because I believe that will figure in to their election decision, their voting decision.”
The Spin Begins: Romney Criticizes Drop in Unemployment: "Not What A Recovery Looks Like"
WASHINGTON — Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney says a drop in the nation’s unemployment rate to 7.8 percent “is not what a real recovery looks like.”
The former Massachusetts governor responded to the September jobs report out Friday by arguing that Obama has a failed record on the economy. He pointed to millions of Americans still struggling for work, living in poverty and using food stamps to feed their families.
He also argued that the rate is low in part because some people have stopped looking for work.
The Labor Department says 114,000 jobs were added last month, helping bring the jobless rate to its lowest point since Obama took office in January 2009.
The figures are a much-needed boost for Obama after a disappointing debate performance against Romney this week.
Here is Romney’s full statement:
This is not what a real recovery looks like. We created fewer jobs in September than in August, and fewer jobs in August than in July, and we’ve lost over 600,000 manufacturing jobs since President Obama took office. If not for all the people who have simply dropped out of the labor force, the real unemployment rate would be closer to 11%. The results of President Obama’s failed policies are staggering – 23 million Americans struggling for work, nearly one in six living in poverty and 47 million people dependent on food stamps to feed themselves and their families. The choice in this election is clear. Under President Obama, we’ll get another four years like the last four years. If I’m elected, we will have a real recovery with pro-growth policies that will create 12 million new jobs and rising incomes for everyone.
I believe what he really said was “Oh shit! It dropped below 8%! We said it would never do that! The Congressional GOP promised they would prevent it from happening. They were supposed to make it go up, not down! What kind of voodoo is this?!”

DENVER — Some of the most memorable moments during the GOP primary debates were when candidates — or even questioners — were booed or cheered by the audience (remember when the audience jeered moderator Juan Williams for asking Newt Gingrich about his characterization of the nation’s poor?).
There will be no such cheering or jeering at Wednesday’s first general election presidential debate, if audience members follow the rules.
Before the debate, a member of the debate commission went before the audience and warned that such behavior will not be tolerated: “This is not a primary debate, folks. All that cheering that we just heard — hopefully we won’t hear that again until the end of the debate.”

The first presidential debate falls on the same day as Barack and Michelle Obama’s 20th wedding anniversary. Though the Obamas have a late celebration planned for Saturday, the Obama campaign marked the anniversary with a video about the Obamas’ marriage.
